Food and Wine of the Tamar Valley

Tasmania is famed for its pure, fresh foods - including seafood, beef, fruits and vegetables. It rivals the mainland due to its locally grown produce and the pride that is taken in showcasing the best produce of the region. The local cuisine is world class and the cafe culture is strong with the friendliness and quirkiness of a small town. Indulge yourself and dine in the famed restaurants of Launceston and the valley. Enjoy truffle season, pick your own strawberries and raspberries at the Hillwood Strawberry Farm, taste some great Tassie cheeses and paired wines in season.

Launceston is the proud home of the historic Boag's Brewery. Tours of the brewery are conducted daily and you can sample the exclusive red labelled ale which is bespoke to Tasmania alone.  You can also enjoy Tassie's bourgeoning small-batch spirits industry which has plenty to tickle the fancy of gin and whisky enthusiasts alike.

Cheese

Some of the renowned cheese makers include Ashgrove cheese, Wicked, Pyengana Dairy Company, Cheese Company, Coal River and Grandvewe Cheese. World renowned Tasmanian cheese makers King Island Dairy and Bruny Island can also be sourced from local supermarkets and gourmet suppliers. Many of the wine tours offer cheese pairings with their wines. Anna and Michael can prepare a cheese platter for you with a range of the regions' cheeses. Enjoy the flavours of the Tamar by the fire in the evening.

Food

Launceston is a locavore, foodie haven. In addition to the broad range of restaurants and cafes, the region also has many independent gourmet food suppliers who have established relationships with local producers so as to showcase their seasonal produce. These stores have a fantastic selection of local Tasmanian produce including Tasmanian wine, beer and spirits, cheeses, meat, local & seasonal fruit & vegetables, salt and pepperberry and Leatherbrook honey.

Anna and Michael use a range of these products for their breakfast menu so that you are always tasting the best of the region.
