The River House, set in two hectares of garden and bush, was built in 1955 as a family residence with substantial additions made in 1986. Major interior renovations and refurbishment have been undertaken, very visible with new bathrooms, polished floor boards and new window dressings all round.

This lovely family home was situated to take advantage of full river views in a very peaceful, quiet and tranquil location. In the evening, the lights on the fast developing western shore provide a twinkling carpet reflected in the Tamar River. We believe it is a wonderful spot, not quite in the city, not quite in the county, but rather where they both meet, providing you with further options for your Launceston accommodation.

The interior is spacious, stylish and able to offer a range of accommodation styles, all in-house. There is one traditional bed and breakfasts room, one self-catering studio room and one 1 bedroom full kitchen apartment which can be organised to be let as a traditional B&B room by prior arrangement. All with queen size beds and spacious, freshly renovated ensuites which include double showers and/or spa baths.

Full breakfast provisions are supplied for the Apartment with cooked breakfast options available for the Studio. Guests in the traditional B& B rooms are catered for with a fully cooked breakfast.

Tasmania is about serene and untouched places, beautiful vistas and fine food and wine. We can provide a hint of the first of these, some great examples of the second and serious tastes of the third. We provide you with complimentary Tasmanian chocolate truffles in your room, available for purchase from chocoholic heaven only 60 minutes away! Our breakfasts include local produce such as bacon and sausages, fresh Tasmanian smoked salmon, free range eggs, breads and yoghurt. The wines available for purchase are from the surrounding vineyards, with numerous medal winners amongst them.
